Dear Sir or Madam:
I am writing to apply for German teacher position. I have a Master’s Degree in German philology from Jagiellonian University in Krakow (5 year, full time day studies).
Since graduation three years ago I have worked in two secondary schools in Kielce, Poland. I am interested in learning and teaching foreign languages, so I decided to study German philology.
I study English philology as a second major-(one year left to B.A), because I would like to teach it in the near future as well. Learning languages (German, English) has given me the chance to get to know other traditions and cultures.
The eighth term of my German course was spent in Görlitz in Germany. During this scholarship I not only improved my practical skills of German language, but also I gained a new knowledge of Methodology, Psycholinguistics and Sociolinguistics, which I used in my M.A. thesis, and now it helps me further in my teaching.
While studying in Görlitz, within the confines of the Erasmus-program in Collegium Pontes I worked on a project in the domain of “Cross-cultural communication“. My goal was to show differences in the expression of politeness between Polish and German people regarding traditions and cultural life of these two nations. The project entitled “Kulturen in Begegnung“, where I contributed, was published two years ago in Germany.
While studying I had three teaching practices in secondary and primary schools as German teacher.
I am working currently at Trinity College, University of Dublin teaching Polish language and in the travel agency in Dublin.
My teaching is best described as eclectic. While I am always organized and focused, I vary my instructional methodologies to incorporate diverse activities and material to engage and interest pupils.
I am an energetic, ambitious extrovert person and open to interesting ideas. I like working with children and young people or adults and have experience in this area. Learning new things is a challenge and a great pleasure for me.
I would welcome the opportunity to work abroad as a German teacher in a professional school or college. Thank you for your time and consideration.
Yours faithfully
